Typically 12–18 months from filing to registration, assuming no opposition. The application is examined within 1–2 months, published for 4 months, and registered thereafter if unopposed.
You can use ™ the moment an application is filed — it only signals 'claimed'. The ® symbol may be used only after the mark is formally registered. Using ® before registration is an offence.
A registered trademark is valid for 10 years from the date of application and can be renewed indefinitely in 10-year blocks. Restoration is possible within 6–12 months of lapse.
